HELL YEAH or NO??
Chris and I have been really enjoying listening to podcasts by James Altrucher. Although he is not a yogi (as far as I know) I think a lot of his ideas and advice is very applicable to everyone including yogis. So here I'd like to share and expand on one thought that has really been resonating with me all week.
When making decisions, we can often feel so unsure and indecisive. This is normal. I go through this ALL the time whether it be big or small decisions. I find that often in my heart I know what I really want, yet I often allow myself to do things that I don't really want to do. I catch myself saying yes and agreeing to things even though I know this thing will not bring me any joy.
In the podcast he says:
"Everytime you say yes to something you don’t want to do, this will happen: You will resent people, you will do a bad job, you have less energy for the things you were doing a good job on, you will make less money, and yet another small percentage of your life will be used up, burnt up, a smoke signal to the future saying 'I did it again'."
So next time you are asked whether or not you'd like to do something, if you're catching yourself saying "mmm... Not sure... Maybe..." Then really that's a NO. Only time you should agree to do something is if you immediately catch yourself saying HELL YEAH! Then all the tasks you find yourself doing will be the things you genuinely want to do. Very often I see people working on a project for their work or for their boss and just working SO hard, working overtime, sacrificing sleep, sacrificing social life so they can do this task real well. And that's great! Imagine how much more effort and what kind of results would yeild if you were to take that same amount of effort and pour it into your own project or pour it into something you love, something you want, something you care about!
Life is short. We don't know when ours will end. So let's spend it on the things we can genuinely say HELL YEAH to!
